Mark Gardner thanked the HZBA for helping the HVFC. Dave reminded everyone of the email he sent regarding increased police in our area. Many speeding tickets are being given out. He also noted he will be speaking at Career Night at HHS again this year.
  2. Secretary: The minutes from the October meeting were approved as written.
  3. Treasurer: Ending balance @ 10/31/05 is $9,759.11

Old Business/New Business:
  1. A budget is to be developed and distributed at the January meeting for approval.
  2. A survey was taken regarding changing our meeting time to a breakfast meeting. This was not approved and the meeting will remain at noon.
  3. A suggestion was made to have someone speak for about 15 minutes on what Baltimore County Small Business Development has to offer. Possible for February or March. Alyson to talk with Al.
  4. Sparks-Hereford High School Alumni Association is having a fund-raiser to support their scholarship fun. Make checks payable to Sparks-Hereford Alumni Association and mail to Treasurer, Ruth Ann Zellman, SHAA, PO Box 171, Monkton, MD 21111.
  5. 7th District Elementary School is looking for local advertisers to support its soft-cover yearbook. Business card ads are $25. Make checks payable to 7th District Elementary School and mail to Betsy Mellin, PO Box 98, White Hall, MD 21161.
  6. Jim Deluca/Action International is giving a free seminar on sales/marketing that can help your business succeed on December 7th. Contact Jim for details.

Committee Reports:
  1. Directory: Rose needs the ads into her by December 8th. Size is 5.25 width by 8 ½" length. Please leave a 1" margin all the way around. Email a .pdf to Rose or direct to printer's website www.mmpmd.com. Send logos separately for better clarity. If you do not have a computer Rose will accept the artwork at our December Holiday Party. This is the DROP DEADLINE!
  2. Membership: we welcome M&T Bank, Hereford Title, and Hereford Community Association.
  3. Web Master: Activity is increasing; averaging 33 visits a day. October was 20% above September. Roster page is the most visited. A listing of "MIA" email addresses was passed around.
  4. Fall Fest: Mary wanted to ascertain whether the majority of HZBA members wanted to continue with the Fall Fest. Those in attendance agreed we would continue as this is a way we give back to our community. The budgeted amount was $3500; however Mary believes we are under-budget (all figures not in yet). It was suggested that we donate the basket proceeds (entire amount or a larger amount) to the Cluster Food Bank. It was noted that the tickets said "to benefit HVFC". A motion was made to table the suggestion, and this motion carried. Dave thanked John for handling the basket raffles. We had five baskets, 211 items, 62 organizations made donations. John thanked Alyson for her salesmanship at the Fest. We earned $1906.25, just slightly short of the $2000 goal. ($802 before the Fest, $725 on Saturday and $379.25 on Sunday). John suggested for next year we think about the following: raising ticket price to $2 or perhaps having a Silent Auction at the Festival for larger valued items.
